Dr. Yvette Huett

Yvette Huet is the Director for the UNC Charlotte ADVANCE Faculty Affairs and Diversity Office and a Professor of  Kinesiology. She is also the UNC Charlotte PI for the NSF fund award #1820538, Collaborative Research: AGEP North Carolina Alliance: An Institutional Transformation Model to Increase Minority STEM Doctoral Student and Faculty Successand part of the Leadership Team of the UNC Charlotte participation in the NSF funded, APLU INCLUDES Institutional Change (IChange) Network.  Her research interests include women and faculty of color in the academy; mentoring; health disparities; understanding the role of gonadal steroids (primarily estrogen) in normal physiology and adult diseases and the effects of neonatal exposure to environmental toxicants on development and adult disease; and the roles of nitric oxide in early pregnancy.  Dr. Huet earned her B.S. in Human Biology: Microbiology from the University of Kansas; her Ph.D. (with Honors) in physiology from the University of Kansas Medical Center; and had a Postdoctoral Fellowship with Monsanto Company in Missouri. Her honors include a National Science Foundation Minority Graduate Fellowship and a Ford Foundation Dissertation Fellowship for Minorities and she is currently the NC Liaison for the Ford Foundation Fellowship Program. She has served in many other leadership roles at UNC Charlotte, including as Coordinator of Faculty Development, College of Liberal Arts & Sciences and Interim Chair, Kinesiology, Graduate Director for the Interdisciplinary Ph.D. in Biology and the Graduate Director for the Health Services Research Doctoral Program.
